Hi! My name is Rebecca, and Nabi is my little dream come true.
Nabi actually means ‘butterfly’ in Korean, but the inspiration behind this name comes from my Korean name, ‘나린’ or Narene. As a child, I remember adults often asking me what my name was in Korean. When I would respond, they would say “Oh, is it 나비 (Nabi)?” because my Korean name was quite uncommon and sounded similar to the common Korean term for butterfly.
As I brainstormed the name of this bakery, I wanted to choose a name that highlighted my childhood and cultural background— both of which deeply influence the way I bake today. And that’s how Nabi was born! To me, ‘Nabi’ captures the childlike joy that shines through my pastries, while also reflecting the strong connection I feel to my Korean heritage, which continues to inspire me every day.
When I bake (and hopefully succeed), I feel a sense of childlike giddiness that something I made with my hands could look so pretty or taste so good. It brings me so much joy when I first open the oven and see a successful tray of macarons, or cream puffs, or anything else. With Nabi, my hope is to share that same feeling with you. I want each bite to spark joy, curiosity, and delight—bringing you back, even briefly, to that lighthearted, carefree happiness we associate with childhood.
Thank you so much for supporting me and Nabi—whether that means placing an order or simply browsing the website and reading this page. Your support means more than you know. I’m so excited for what’s ahead, and I can’t wait to share the journey of Nabi with you.
